Uttar Pradesh is India’s largest and most populated state. It is also home to four of the world’s 20 most polluted cities.
Dirty vehicle and industrial emissions and poor waste management have polluted the air, land and water.
According to UNICEF, four children could be dying every hour in UP as a result of exposure to toxic air. Yet despite UP’s high emissions, 85 million people in the state are still living without access to modern electricity.
We have the chance to light up the lives of millions – and ditch the polluting fuels that are threatening UP’s health and our future – by moving to renewable energy.
Let’s urge the government to green our cities, move to zero waste solutions, and shift to 100% clean energy for all.
